David Lane is on the section of reserved track which parallels the railway line to the terminus at Hucknall

David Lane crosses the tram and rail tracks at this point, with an unusual level crossing arrangement. The rail tracks are protected with automatic full barriers, while the tram crossing is covered by conventional traffic lights. The rail barriers and lights are connected to the traffic lights, which, with box junction markings, should prevent vehicles from queuing across the tram lines

With upwards of four trains and twenty trams per hour at peak times, it is easy to see why full barriers would be a problem on this busy road at David Lane. Contrast this style of crossing with those at Bulwell Forest and Butler's Hill
